School Council

A new school year 2023 - 2024

Our School Council is made up of one child from each year group elected by their school at the beginning of the year.

Through this process, all children from Year One to Year Six gain experience of Democracy which is integral to their understanding of ‘British Values’.

Every two weeks, we gather to discuss, overview and analyse various school issues so that all children feel heard and together we can make Lamerton Primary school an inclusive place to learn and grow.

During assemblies we have been looking at British Values and learnt all about what living in a Democracy means.  We held our elections for our School Council representatives during assembly and I am delighted to share with you that the successful candidates for this academic year are:

Class 1 –  Jaxson, Elsie.

Class 2-   Jack, Evie, Lewis, Scarlett, Annabelle.

A huge congratulations to everyone who took the time to write a speech and courage to speak in front of the whole school.

Cleaning the bike shed

On Monday 20th November, School Council braved the wind and rain to sort and clean the play equipment, with the view of seeing what we really needed to buy.
Weather changed our plans slightly, so we spent the afternoon cleaning the sides of the bike-shed – which were very green. Everyone had a great time, the best bit I think was getting absolutely soaked in the rain!! We do however, have a much cleaner shed (you can now see through the windows) the bikes and large play equipment now clean and stored tidily inside.
We have been donated £100 so the School Council have chosen some equipment to purchase, which we will hopefully see in the New Year.
Well done School Council – great job!

Children In Need 2023

Mrs Tozer and The School Council worked really hard to celebrate Child In Need Day. Children wore pyjamas and Mr Johnson took part in a penalty shoot out. Children In Need pens and badges were also sold. It was a great day. Thank you so much to everyone. Well done to Indy who won the sweets in the jar competition.
